Research
ARAI - FID has plans to carry out research projects in numerous fields of forging and related areas.

As a first step, ARAI - FID proudly announces, initiation of research project titled 'Effect of deformation temperature on microstructure and mechanical properties of hot forged materials'. This project is sponsored through CESS programs of Dept. of Heavy Industries, Govt. of India.

Total duration of the project will be 30 months and the Project will commence from April 2010.

Some of Case studies at ARAI - FID

Case study1 Case study2
Case study1: In this case, open die heavy forging process is simulated. The simulation helps in understanding, grain flow, probable forging defects like under fill, folds or cracks.

Case study2: In this case, closed die cold forging process is simulated. Objective of the simulation was to distribute forging force, optimize grain flow and remove under fill. The photographs show, accuracy of simulation as compared to actual process.
